Emma Davies To Leave Emmerdale

Emmerdale actress Emma Davies is to leave the ITV soap at the end of her current contract, reports DigitalSpy.

The 38-year-old actress, who joined the show in June as Anna De Souza, is due to finish filming within the next couple of weeks and will bow out when her storyline reaches a dramatic climax in December.

The storyline will also involve the exit of her screen father Donald de Souza (Michael Jayston) and screen lover Matthew King (Matt Healy).

Of her departure, she said, "The opportunity of playing Anna has been a joy from start to finish. I've enjoyed being part of such a fantastic, hard-working and super talented team."

She isn't the only one leaving the Dales as other Emmerdale departures include Roxanne Pallett (Jo Sugden) and Mathew Bose (Paul Lambert), while Emily Symons (Louise Appleton) is taking a temporary break for the soap for family reasons

Soap Star Cleared Of Rape

Former Emmerdale actor Ben Freeman has been cleared of rape in Barbados.

The 28-year-old had been accused of forcing himself onto a 16-year-old girl at a resort in December 2006.

A 'not guilty' verdict was delivered after 90 minutes of deliberation at the High Court in Bridgetown.

"I'm grateful to be vindicated by the jury's verdict and am looking forward to spending time with my family and close friends who have been enormously supportive to me over the past two years," said the actor outside court.

Pallet 'Furious' After Being Groped

Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett was stunned last week when a stranger groped her in a Manchester restaurant.

The 25-year-old, who plays Jo Sugden in the soap, was so shocked by the man's actions that she threw her drink over him.

She told Star magazine, "I was out for a quiet drink with my friend when this guy just came up to me and pinched me on the bottom. I was furious."

"I ended up pouring my drink over him because I was so annoyed."

Emmerdale Actor Dies Aged 63

Actor Clive Hornby, who played Jack Sugden in ITV1 soap Emmerdale, has died at the age of 63.

It was announced in January that Hornby would be taking a break from the soap because of ill health.

He originally signed a three month contract with the soap - but he ended up staying in the Dales for 28 years, making him the soap's longest-serving cast member.

Emmerdale series producer Anita Turner said she was "deeply saddened" by "a devastating loss".

She added, "He was a hugely popular and well-respected member of cast and a terrific actor."

Emmerdale Star Quits

Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett has quit the soap after three years and is hoping to crack the West End .

The 25-year-old, who plays Jo Sugden, wanted to leave the show last year, but producers convinced her to stay for another 12 months.

She was involved in a storyline where Jo suffered at the hands of her husband Andy Sugden.

A source told The Sun, "Roxanne wanted to leave last year but the producers put her at the centre of this big storyline, which is only going to get more harrowing.”

"Now she has agreed her leaving terms and will go in a huge exit in December."

Soap Babe's Almost Wadrobe Malfunction

It was the British Soap Awards yesterday and they will air on ITV1 this Wednesday at 8pm. Emmerdale's Roxanne Pallett almost dropped out of her dress when a strap on her dress came loose. Her co-star Verity Rushworth was on hand to help her keep it on, reports Daily Mail.

Dales Star Returns For Gay Wedding

Former Emmerdale actress Kate McGregor is to make a special reappearance for the soap's first gay wedding.

Her character Emily Kirk will return at the beginning of March for the nuptials between Paul Lambert and Jonny Foster – played by Matthew Bose and Richard Grieve respectively.

McGregor – who played shopkeeper Emily for eight years between 1999 and 2007 – quit the soap last year in order to pursue other projects. In the soap, her character left the village in December to train as a priest.

She returns to the Yorkshire set next week, with her reappearance airing on March 3.

Speaking of Kate's comeback, Bose told Digital Spy, "Paul and Jonny couldn't have got married without Emily being a witness. It just had to happen. We're really excited about having Kate back on set. It'll be like old times. We'll have to try and tie her down this time so she can't leave again!"

A source added, "The wedding's going to be fantastic – and there'll definitely be plenty of surprises along the way!"

Illnnes Forces Break For Emmerdale Star

Emmerdale actor Clive Hornby has been forced to take a break from the soap due to ill health.

According to The Mirror, the 63-year-old is fighting an unnamed illness.

However bosses have denied rumours that Clive will be leaving the show.

A show spokesman said, "We can confirm that Clive is unwell but fully intends to return to work."

Hornby has filmed episodes to be broadcast up to mid-February.

Hornby is Emmerdale's longest-serving cast member and has played farmer Jack Sugden for about 30 years.

Emmerdale 'Confident' Over Enders Battle

Emmerdale producers have insisted that they are "confident" about how the soap will perform when it goes head-to-head with EastEnders on Tuesday nights.

ITV have changed the Winter schedule which means Emmerdale's Tuesday night episode will be a one-hour special and no episode on Sundays..

The move means that the second half of Emmerdale's Tuesday episode will clash with EastEnders when the BBC One soap begins at 7.30pm.

Emmerdale and EastEnders have gone head-to-head 30 times since 2004 Emmerdale has picked up more viewers in 26 of the battles. Producers are convinced that the soap can maintain its success this year.

"The scheduling has been decided by ITV and has nothing to do with the people at Emmerdale," a spokesman for the soap told the Daily Star Sunday. "But we are confident we can keep up our good record against EastEnders.

"Each hour-long episode on Tuesday will be specially written and won't be two half-hour ones put together."

Hollyoaks Babe Urges Lesbian Corrie Plot

Hollyoaks star Zoe Lister has advised Coronation Street producers to write a lesbian storyline.

The actress, who plays Zoe Carpenter, revealed that she is proud to be part of a "saucy" soap and claimed that Corrie chiefs need to spice up their show.

"Hollyoaks is easily the sauciest. I love it. Emmerdale isn't too bad. They have sexed it up recently," Zoe told the Daily Star.

"But Corrie needs some work. It needs some lesbian action. I reckon Samia Smith as Maria and Tina O'Brien as Sarah would have made a great gay couple."

"I'd definitely do a lesbian love scene in Hollyoaks," she added. "That would be a really good story."

Emmerdale Actress Ends Relationship

Roxanne Pallett has ended her relationship with former Coronation Street actor Richard Fleeshman (Craig Harris).

The actress, who plays Jo Stiles on Emmerdale, started dating Fleeshman after they both appeared on Soapstar Superstar last year.

The pair have very little time to see each other as Roxanne is filming in Leeds and Richard is in London working on his singing career.

A source told the News of the World, "She is completely devastated by the split with Richard. With him being absorbed in his music career in London, she felt she had no option but to end things.”

"She is heartbroken but trying to be strong. Her friends and family are all rallying round her."

Linda Lusardi Quits Emmerdale

Linda Lusardi has quit Emmerdale after spending just less than a year with the soap.

The former Page 3 girl who plays Carrie Nicholls told The Sun, "I have had a wonderful time at Emmerdale. I would like to thank the producers for the wonderful opportunity they gave me."

The 49-year-old wants to move on so that she can play "different and varied roles."

A source revealed, "It's not a row about money. She thinks it is time to move on."

Coronation Street Wins Best Soap

Coronation Street won title of Best Soap at this year's Inside Soap Awards. The ITV soap won five out of the 14 awards available. Winners for Corrie included Jack P Shepherd who won Best Bad Boy for his role as David Platt and Rob James-Collier (Liam Connor) won the award for Sexiest Male and Best Newcomer.

Eastenders also won five awards including Best Actress for Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater) and Best Storyline for Stella's torment of Ben.

The Bill was named Best Drama and Emmerdale won two awards while Hollyoaks walked away with just one.

Life After Hells Kitchen = £££

Hells Kitchen runner-up Adele Silva has been flooded with offers after proving popular with fans.

Adele's reported deals include cook books, television programmes, including a cookery slot, modelling and television advertisements.

There are also claims that one company wants to back Adele's dream of opening her own restaurant. A source said, "Adele is in huge demand… Several companies have come up with ideas for eateries using Adele's name. It's a chance she never thought she'd have."

Adele has a six-figure lingerie deal with Debenhams, who are reported to want to extend the contract.

According to The Daily Star, ITV chiefs are set to create a drama series especially for the Emmerdale actress.

The winner of the reality show was former boxing champ Barry McGuigan. Sources claimed companies were lining up with commercial deals including potato, chip and crisp adverts after the ex-boxer's mashed potato became popular during the show.

The show's kitchen boss Marco Pierre White, 45, told Barry and Adele, "I'm going to miss you when you go…"

Emmerdale Actor Talks About Leaving

Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher has revealed that he would like to leave the soap in a couple of years.

The 24-year-old who plays Andy Sugden has been with the soap for 12 years.

He told The Sun, "I've played Andy for half of my life, I would like to play him for a couple more years and then I’ll have a think about my future."

"I’ve just signed up for another year, but in the future I'd love to do different TV. I’d like to have a go at comedy and play completely different characters. Maybe I could do a gangster film."

“I'm quite happy at the moment as the writers have big plans for Andy and I like to be in the thick of things."

Thorson Quits Emmerdale

Emmerdale actress Linda Thorson is set to leave the soap this year.

The 60-year-old, has been with the soap for 17 months as scheming Rosemary King. She is currently involved in a storyline where she wants her son Grayson to get rid of his wife Perdy.

Linda finishes filming this week and her final scenes are due to be broadcast at the end of September, according to Digital Spy.

Silva To Take Break From Emmerdale

Emmerdale actress Adele Silva is to take a twelve-month break from the soap.

Silva, who plays Kelly Windsor, is hoping to try out new roles when she leaves later this year. Producers are confident that she will return in 2008.

A source told The Mirror, "She has been thinking about leaving for a while to try out new things and is really looking forward to the future."

Silva previously left the soap in 2000 but returned in 2005.
