Ex-Eastender Mike Reid Dies

Former EastEnders actor Mike Reid has died at the age of 67 after suffering a suspected heart attack, his agent said.

The actor, who played Frank Butcher in the BBC soap, was living in Spain at the time of his death. His agent David Hahn told the BBC his death came as a great shock as he had been in very good health.

Actress Pam St Clement, who played Frank's wife Pat for many years, said: "It has come as a terrible shock..."

Adam Woodyat, who plays Ian Beale, said Reid "used to brighten up long filming days keeping the cast and crew laughing".

Reid joined EastEnders in 1987 and had many runs on the show, making him very popular with the soap.

Oops! Sorry! What I was trying to say is that when Mike was on the show with Pat - i felt that East Enders was at one of its pinnacles. The acting was first class and the dynamic between the two was fabulous. Mike Reid's acting will be sorely missed along with his comic and happy attitude. Ed
