ABC have apologized to the country of Philippines after people were unhappy about a comment that was made by Susan Mayer (played by Teri Hatcher) on TV show Desperate Housewives.A doctor suggested to Susan that she was going through the menopause, to which she replied, "OK, before we go any further, can I check these diplomas? Just to make sure they aren't, like, from some med school in the Philippines?"
ABC said in their statement that they offered “sincere apologies for any offence caused by the brief reference” and there “was no intent to disparage the integrity of any aspect of the medical community in the Philippines."
The comment was made during the season premiere of the hit show.
