Barrymore Will Not Face Charges

Michael Barrymore will not face charges over the death of Stuart Lubbock in his swimming pool.

In a statement, the Crown Prosecution Service said it had advised Essex Police that no-one should be charged; Lubbock was apparently found in Barrymore's swimming pool 2001.

Barrymore was arrested in June after police reopened the investigation. But he is now released.

Chris McCann, of Essex CPS, said, "There is still no answer how or by whose hand Mr Lubbock died…”

"I appreciate that this will be a great disappointment to the family of Mr Lubbock and I have arranged to meet them to explain the reasons for my decision to them."

Barrymore left the police station and his solicitor, said, "Michael has always protested his innocence."
